In coming from country locations in Queensland, our retired benefactors had limited opportunities for higher education in their youth and understood that the tyranny of distance coupled with the lack of funds impeded their ability to gain a tertiary education.
Revising their Wills recently, they had to ensure that their own children were well catered for, however they are both well established in their careers and live comfortably in their own homes.
So they wanted their respective estates to incorporate a bequest that could really make a difference in some relevant and meaningful way.
They have made provision in their Wills to QUT for disadvantaged students, including students from rural or isolated areas of Queensland, with consideration given to equity and merit grounds.
This thoughtful and far-sighted gift will make a real difference to the lives of students in the future.
