'I
have very fond memories of my time at QUT, where I completed the Bachelor of
Business – Organisational Communication degree. I made some fantastic
friends, had a lot of fun and learnt a great deal. I feel very fortunate that
I was able to attend QUT, and know that many others are not in a position to
do so.
'When a student from QUT called me last year and asked me to donate to one of QUT's scholarships and programs, it reminded me of why I wanted to give. I wanted to give something back to the university that put up with me for four years (!), but most importantly, I really wanted to help students who are in situations that would normally prevent them from going to university.
'Attending QUT was such a rewarding experience, and I believe that it should be every person's right to go to uni – not a privilege. Unfortunately, in 2003, many intelligent and motivated leaders of the future are prevented from attending for a range of reasons. I want to make sure that these students get their chance to go, so I give to the QUT Equity Fund. QUT matches every dollar I donate, and scholarships are awarded to deserving people who I'm sure will go on to make a difference in whatever profession they choose.
'I feel proud that my contribution makes a difference to the life of someone who really wants to go to university. I encourage all Alumni to consider giving to QUT and to help ensure that university remains a place that's accessible to everyone.'
