QUT Alumni Appeals

QUT is committed to addressing the changing needs of society and, from time to time, may identify major new initiatives as priorities of the University. The Alumni Appeal has been identified as an area of top priority for the University. The Alumni Appeal is seeking donations to the following funds:

The QUT Library Development Fund

Your gift to the QUT Library Development Fund is most welcome, and is a valued method for augmenting and enriching the Library services in support of the University's teaching, learning and research activities. Our immediate priority is to provide outstanding electronic resources to QUT's students and researchers. Gifts to the QUT Library Development Fund will be directed to subscriptions for Science and Nature online. The Remote Practicum Bursary Fund - supporting student teachers and Remote Field Experience.

QUT supports student teachers taking their Teaching Field Experience in rural and remote Queensland . Many students are reluctant to participate in this experience because of the financial burden incurred in travelling to places like Birdsville and Thursday Island. A small bursary of $250 can make all the difference to these students. Students like Krystyna Artimiew know the benefits of taking on that challenge.

"I took away so many lasting memories from my time as a student teacher at Birdsville State School. And it is the generosity of alumni like you who make this all possible. Alumni support for the Bursary Fund gives students like me a unique opportunity to experience many different teaching practices.

My remote field experience also gave me a greater understanding of the difficulties encountered in rural schools and helped me appreciate the need for dedicated teachers in these isolated communities. The remote prac program gives student teachers a real insight into the great need for, and positive benefits of, working as a teacher in the country".
